THE RING.

The first ring that truly "hit" me, was one of a set. It wasn't so much that the ring was spectacular, nor the band, on their own - yet that they made a chic little pairing. Of course, these rings were found on website of the chicest of chic ring stores around: Tiffany & Co.

The Tiffany & Co. Etoile in White Gold.

With the Etoile collection, I got exactly what I wanted - simple and modern, with a twist. I mean, who doesn't like polka dotted diamonds around a thick white gold band? The half-bezel setting in the wide solitaire band made me swoon as well. This set soon became the ideal for my dream engagement ring and band.

My engagement ring from Shane Co. in white gold.

The FH didn't stray too far - aside from the little blue box, my engagement ring is almost exactly what I first hoped for, and more! The FH decided not to go with the Tiffany & Co. solitaire for two reasons. One, the half-bezel band wouldn't hold more than a single carat - and wanted a wow-factor (lucky girl, aren't I?). Two, Tiffany & Co. jewelry is rather expensive to maintain - they charge you for a cleaning! This second fact has been disputed, but I'm not taking my chances with a bitchy salesperson. The fiance opted for Shane Co., which has a fantastic reputation for quality diamonds, gemstones, jewelry and customer service. So far, I've loved them!

Now, the Etoile wedding band looks so...ordinary to me. I've been on the hunt for a more custom looking band - for if I could do it again, I'd design my own. That's what anniversaries are for, right? I'll share with you the wedding bands I'm toying with the idea of, most recently.

Custom fingerprint engraved wedding bands in white gold.
By commission only @ Andrew English

1/2 carat TW round diamond ring in white gold.
I love the "ball and chain" idea behind this - although, that's my doing as this is a right-hand ring.
$1,075 @ Shane Co.

Two different, more textural, takes on the polka dot diamond band in white gold.
Both price available upon request @ Eliza Page

Honestly, I still don't think I've found "the one" when it comes to the wedding band - but I'll keep looking until I do! After all, I still have 8 months or so!

If you could pick your dream wedding band - what would it be?

I'm wondering about how your engagement band is going to fit on top of some of the wedding bands you've looked at? I love all of the ones you've put pictures to, just beautiful! The polka dot one is so pretty and different I don't think I've ever seen that. Dream ring? Hmmm...I never even thought about looking online for ideas or anything like that. The wedding magazines do a good job of showing the "popular" ones out there. We went to a jeweler in town and looked at everything they had there and then made our own using three different rings or so, just putting the special things about them together for my ring. I loved the outcome! I chose princess cut, not because I thought of myself as a princess :) But it seemed different at the time, and now I see them on every other hand, go figure. :) Gosh 8 months away? It seems like your wedding is just around the corner for some reason.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! My husband purposed with my great grandmother's ring, because of the age we had a hard time finding a ring to match it. A friend told me about www.abazias.com and we started looking through them. In the end we were able to find a ring with in our budget and we were able to choose the diamond and setting to match my great grandmother's ring. I couldn't be happier with the end result. Good luck finding your perfect ring!
